Safety In a Familiar Face

For a town that was "owned" by Batman and his family of crime-fighting vigilantes, Gotham City sure did seem to attract a lot of metahuman and magic-using villains. That was a thought that popped into Batgirl's mind as she and Black Bat chased a self-styled 'master of the mystical arts', as he drove away from his so-far-successful heist of the small Jacobi Museum.

"At this point," Batgirl commented dryly, as the two ladies leaped a gap between buildings to keep up with the speeding Honda Accord weaving through the light traffic of mid-evening -- and one would think a 'mystical master' would drive a better car, or even some sort of magical transport, "don't you think people would learn not to bring expensive or powerful artifacts to Gotham?"

"Why wouldn't they?" Black Bat replied with a grin, "Best security guards in the world!"

Batgirl gave a short laugh and conceded, "Good point."

Title: The Pollution of Their Foul Footsteps
Author: D.L.SchizoAuthoress
Rating: R
Spoilers: none, really, it's an AU.
Warnings: zombies, apocalyptic setting, mentions of character death, angst and suffering, mild language
Word Count: 1835
Summary: The end comes slow, and they'll hold it off as long as possible. They don't know how to do anything else.
Prompt/Fill: from calicoblue on Tumblr -- "Bart Allen and a Robin (but not Damian, pls; he's cool and all I just don't identify with him much), as for AU setting; hmm... Bart's non-powered (never been powered, I suppose) and a quiet, intimate moment during the zombie apocalypse. Oh! A Robin or more than one Robin; your choice. :D"

Note: I went for non-traditional zombies, Jason Todd for the Robin because I ship it, Steph Brown because I was allowed more than one Robin, and Bart being non-powered now due to circumstances. <3 (There are probably more stories in this verse, because I'm me.)

Word of the Day: cordate, adjective:
1. Heart-shaped.
2. (Of leaves) heart-shaped, with the attachment at the notched end.
