I guess I didn't really win a million dollars, then.

BUT! I would use it to pay off my parents for paying for my schooling, donate half the remainder to the various charities I support, and then give half of it to the Boyfriend.

If he chooses to spend it on me or not is his prerogative. ^_~

"Hey. Hello. Carpe Noctem. Whatever."

I actually cross-posted that entry from my EasyJournal, which I'd been using before getting an LJ invite code. It was your basic introductory post.

I think I know about three songs by heart, for sure. Possibly more, and definitely a lot of song "fragments" are floating around in my head. I know:

+ "Amazing Grace" (it is my mom's favorite hymn, and she used to play it on the flute for me and my brother when we couldn't sleep when we were little)
+ "I Want You Back", Jackson Five (I have no excuse for this one...though I wonder what it would sound like as a hard rock cover song...heh.)
+ "The Weight", the Band (because I played it on loop for about five hours one day while sewing...)

And a lot of random Cathy Dennis verses, Beatles songs, and others.

I doubt that I would go on a silent retreat. I can go a long time without talking to other people, if left to my own devices, but I talk to myself a lot. I'm not even going to qualify it as "not like anything bad". I freely admit to having complete conversations -- sometimes arguments -- if not exactly with "myself", when I'm plotting out stories or whatever. Sometimes I talk to myself just for the hell of it.

I also catch myself singing songs out of nowhere -- it was "Eight Days a Week" while I was baking frozen pizza for lunch, and "Misled" while I was sewing, today. And yesterday I spend at least fifteen minutes cutting up old shirts and humming to myself constantly. Also I dance in the kitchen. I'd probably get kicked out of a silent retreat for scaring everyone else.

I don't have a single favorite line of poetry, not the way that my favorite poets write, but here is my favorite excerpt from Anne Sexton's Courage:

"Later,
if you faced the death of bombs and bullets
you did not do it with a banner,
you did it with only a hat to
cover your heart."

The full text of the poem (with a spelling error in at least once stanza, unfortunately), can be found here: 'Courage', at plagiarist.com

One of the great things about my sexual identity is that it doesn't have to change whether I'm nursing a crush on a man or a woman.

I think my top two celebrity crushes, as of now, are Marguerite Moreau and Stephen Chow. (I like Michael Pitt, too.) But I'm not super keen on celebs, seeing as I'll never get the chance to even meet them.

I miss Natural Wonders. When I was a kid, the local mall had a Natural Wonders store just around the same time that I was going through a rock-collecting phase -- I'm sure I tormented my relatives by dragging them into Natural Wonders every time they took me to the mall. If I recall correctly, they started getting more sciencey and less...New Agey...right around the time they closed down. The Boyfriend will probably disown me for admitting that the sciencey stuff held no appeal for me -- I wanted the rose quartz and tigers eye and copper jewelry, not some telescope! I began to lose interest, we didn't go to the mall as much, and the next thing I knew, Natural Wonders was gone. I think they put a Sweet Factory in its old place.
