Flags of Our Fathers

Instead of hanging out with Auntie today, I went and watched "Flags of Our Fathers" with my sisters, and a friend of the younger one. I can't find the proper words to describe this film. It seems trite to say that I enjoyed it, or that it was good or great or even awesome. Because...it deals with war and death, and the difference between heroism as we see it and heroism as it is. Because to have 'enjoyed' this movie is to have turned the sacrifices that these people made into entertainment.
It's a powerful film. It's a moving film. (In some cases, literally. Do not bring food or drink if you are going to see this in the theater...between the scenes of graphic violence and the first-person-POV camera movements, you'll get sick.) This movie made me feel. In a way, it was almost like a guided meditation that made me experience a tiny part of what these people must have felt...
Is that strange to say? Does it seem like a stupid idea? I'm not sure. All I know is, this is a film that people should see.
