Records Aren't the Only Thing Broken Around Here

Jason, half blind with sleep and definitely not looking forward to school today, knew that the day was off to a bad start when he blundered into the closed door of his bathroom. Okay, technically it wasn't his bathroom, but it was the one closest to his bedroom and he'd pretty much laid claim to the space. Hell, he even cleaned it once a week to give Alfred a break. Bruce and Alfred each had their own bathrooms, so neither of them would have gone into it, and he always left the door open.

"I'm in here!" yelled an irritated voice on the other side of the door.

Oh, hell no.

Jason pounded on the door and yelled back, "Get your ass out of there, Grayson!"

Dick shouted back something about 'in the middle of getting ready', but Jason wasn't having it. Wide awake now, he ran back down the hall to his bedroom, pulling his favorite set of lockpicks out of his desk. He was grateful and all that Dick was cool with him being Robin, but the guy had relocated to New York and Jason didn't do well with unannouced visits or invasions of his space. Dick Grayson had to pay, Jason resolved, as he busied himself with picking the lock on the bathroom door.

"Yeah, I've got a lead," Dick was saying in a low voice, "So this wasn't a wasted trip, but--"

"Clashing with Li'l Shortpants?" The other voice was muffled, and the laugh that ended the question crackled slightly. Jason scowled at the stupid nickname. Bad enough that he had to put up with Dick claiming his bathroom, but he was bitching to his buddies, too? Jason got back to his feet after the lock clicked open. He carefully turned the knob and let the door open a tiny bit.

And then he kicked the door. Hard.

Dick yelped, and lashed out with a kick of his own. The door slammed, quickly followed by a thud and a splash. Jason grinned, hearing Dick cursing up a blue streak as he tried to get to his feet. The floor must have been a little wet, because Jason heard him slip, and then the toilet flushed. Dick's hand must have pushed down the handle when he tried to catch himself. This was followed by even more cursing.

"Told you to get out," Jason yelled.

"You brat! I just flushed my communicator!" Dick groaned. "Oh god, and the toilet's flooding...."

Jason peeked inside the bathroom. Dick had one hand on the counter near the sink and was leaning heavily on that hand. His other was cradled against his hip. He was only wearing a pair of boxer shorts -- '...good god,' Jason thought, 'that's Superman underwear' -- with a towel flung haphazardly over one shoulder. And indeed, behind him the toilet was spilling over with an impressive amount of water. Rich people and their high flow toilets... "So fix it."

"I don't know how!" Dick exclaimed, glaring at Jason.

Jason rolled his eyes. 'Looks like I'm not makin' it to first period,' he thought. He wasn't looking forward to the test in Social Studies, but that didn't mean he wanted to miss his math class. "Nice going, Richie Rich."

Dick started to protest, with real heat, "I'm not--!"

Jason cut him off with a snort, and informed him, "If you don't know how to fix a toilet, you spoiled, rich boy." He grabbed Dick by the wrist and hauled him out of the bathroom. The water was already about an inch deep on the floor. "Run get the toolbox from the garage while I make sure you didn't break anything else."
