Furniture Woes
Mar. 6th, 2009 19:46I can't fix the dresser as it is. I'm thinking that we'll just take it all apart and I can nail it together the way it's supposed to go. Apparently, it was put together without all the parts (I'm assuming this means that there was hardware missing), which bears out with it slanting to one side all the goddamn time. Also, there is no back part to it.
The pieces are held together by these strange screw/dowel-looking connectors that I've never seen before. I assume it was done this way so that the hardware would be "invisible", but I've got no problem with visible nails or screws, particularly since this is particle board with a white plastic veneer and nothing's stopping me from painting the nail heads white when I'm done. I'd rather have a steady dresser than a pretty one that might fall apart on me.
Now, if we actually had the instructions for me to look at, I might feel inclined to put it together with the available hardware parts. But we don't, so I'm going with what I know.
