I remember recommending The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson to sweetvirago a few weeks back, based on a quote she posted in her journal.

I found the actual passage from the book (actually, from the third book in the trilogy, Leviathan), and wanted to post it here:

"Dawn was breaking; the Nine Unknown Men, most mysterious of all rock groups, ceremonially donned their football helmets and faced the East to chant:

There is only ONE God:
He is the SUN God:
Ra! Ra! Ra!"
