Title: Hesitant
Author: D.L.SchizoAuthoress

Prompt: "Give me a couple and I'll write a drabble about them as parents." An anonymous person on Tumblr prompted me with Cassandra/Jason Todd

Word Count: 265
Summary: Jason and Cass's baby is here, and Jason has doubts.
Word of the Day: bosh, noun: Absurd or foolish talk; nonsense.
Note: Probably not part of the Heart!verse, that AU is pretty defunct, but it could be read as such.
Hesitant
"Come here." Cass said impatiently. But Jason still hung back, eyes fixed on the tiny bundle in Cass’s arms.
"But I…"
Cass sighed as Jason trailed off and gave her a helpless, overwhelmed look. “Nine months was not long enough to get used to this idea?”
"I don’t think nine years would be enough.”
"If it was going to take nine years," Cass replied dryly, "I would have made you carry him."
That startled a laugh out of Jason. He didn’t doubt it. Damian would probably help her, in that case. He took a few steps toward the hospital bed, feeling very awkward in the protective gown and gloves that the nurses had stuck him in.
He stared down at the tiny baby — pale skin new and especially pink, chubby little cheeks making his face almost comically round, and a dark tuft of hair atop his little head. The baby looked so delicate and small, even though Jason knew that he was of a healthy weight and size according to the doctor.
"I don’t… remember much… about my dad. I don’t know how to…"
"You read the books." Cass interrupted. "You read the books to me. We know enough to start.”
Jason reached out, laid a hand over Cass’s where it rested against their baby’s side. His little eyes fluttered open for a moment, but drifted closed again as the baby made a contented little sound.
"No matter what," Jason said solemnly, "we’re not naming him Richard."
"I was thinking ‘Bruce’." Cass replied, eyes sparkling with mischief.
"You wouldn’t.”
"He’d cry. So much."
"Hmmm…."
