You Don't Even Lift
Donna walked into the large, open area of their house that served as the gym for workouts and sparring. And then she stopped dead in her tracks. “Jason Peter Todd!”
"Donna Hinkley Stacy Troy," her husband replied calmly.
"How many times do I have to say it?" Donna demanded, exasperated, "Don’t let our daughter bench-press you!"
Their teenage daughter was lying flat on the weight bench, but instead of the bar and a collection of metal weights, Jason was stretched out across her held-flat palms. One hand supported his hip, the other braced against his ribs. And he was resting his chin on his hand and his elbow on thin air as he looked at Donna with a grin on his stupid handsome face.
"But honey," Jason protested, as the reps continued and he moved up and down in the air as he spoke, "she can handle so much more than 225 pounds!"
"That’s not the point! Aikaterine, put your father down this instant!"
Aikaterine’s arms started to tremble slightly as she shook with suppressed laughter.
"Donna, baby, be honest. Are you just jealous because I’ve found safe hands to be in that aren’t y— awk!" Jason squawked with surprise as Aikaterine’s laughter burst out of her and he tumbled off her hands. Donna took a worried step forward, but he popped up a moment later and said, "Kat, sweetie, you ruined daddy’s argument."
Aikaterine giggled. “Sorry, Papa.”
Donna tried to keep looking stern, but had to hide a smile behind her hand.
