There's a snake in my head --
Twisting, bright --
He sinks his fangs into my brain,
I shriek, and my perception
convulses --
everything takes on sharp edges
the dark encroaches
where it's not wanted
nor needed
I am unheeded
Unheaded -- beheaded -- the snake
Slithers out
the hole of my neck --
And dances out a cursive signature
in the welter of gore
I bear his mark --
I'm art.
